Harold bought 3 pounds of Red apples and 4.2 pounds of green apples from Bluestar grocery, where both kinds of apples are $1.75 a pound. How much did Harold spend on apples?

    If both are $1.75 a pound, then just multiply:

    3 x 1.75 = $5.25

    4.2 x 1.75 = $7.35

    5.25 + 7.35 = $12.60

    Harold spent $12.60 on apples. (That is pretty expensive by the way.)
