    The marked up price was $60 because $50 times 0.2 = $10 and $50 + $10 = $60.

    So,

    The original price was $50.

The price was increased by 20%.

If you find 20% of $50 and add the result to $50, you will get the markup price.

    20% - - > 0.2

    50 (.2) = $10

    10 + 50 = 60

The marked-up price of the boat is $60.
