    A. To answer this item, we let x be the number of aluminum cans and y be the number of plastic bottles. With this representation, the total money that is gained from the sales is 0.10x and 0.05y. The equation then becomes,

    0.10x + 0.05y = 500

    B. If the value of y is 6000 then,

    0.10x + 0.05 (6000) = 500

The value of x is 2000.
