5/8 of the 64 musicians in a music contest are guitarists, some of them play jazz solos, and the rest play classical solos. the ration of the number of guitarists playing jazz solos to the total number of guitarists in the contest is 1:4. how many guitarists play classical solos in the contest

    32 guitarists play classic solos. 5/8 of 64 is 40 because 64 : 8 = 8 and 5 groups of 8 are guitarists (5 • 8 = 40) 1:4 is 5 added up so you multiply 4 by 8 (4 • 8 = 32) and 1 by 8 to make sure it adds to 40 (32 + 8 = 40)
