How do you multiply 44x12 without using a calculator?

    One way is to factor

    44*12=2*2*11*2*2*3

    lucky us, ther is only a 11 as the biggest factor

    we know that x*11=x*10+x*1 so multiply the non11 terms

    2*2*2*2*3=4*4*3=12*4=48

    now we have

    48*11

    48*11=48*10+48*1=480+48=528
