An item has a listed price of $40. If the sales tax rate is 6%, how much is the sales tax (in dollars) ?

    We have to find 6% of 40, and to get that we can divide 40/100 and multiply that by 6 (since 6% is 6/100). That is 0.4*6=2.4 dollars
