A polynomial is just a word that means an expression with more than one term in it. The prefix "poly" means many. Inside the category of polynomials, there's more __nomial terms. A binomial is a 2-term phrase. A trinomial is a 3 term phrase. Binomials and trinomials are both polynomials.
