    Let x represent student tickets

    Let y represent adult tickets

    y = 3.00 + x ... (1)

    Total cost

    = 3x + y (3 student tickets and 1 adult ticket)

    = 3x + 3 + x (sub equation (1))

    = 4x + 3

    y is going to rep students

    x adults

    if y=$12 and x=y+$3

    you have to take $12 and add $3

    so Alex's dad ticket will be $15
