A school wants to make a new playground.

They give the job of planning the playground to a group of students. The students decide to use 1/4 of the playground for a basketball court and 3/8 of the playground for soccer field. How much is left for the swings and play equipment

    1/4 = 2/8 3/8 + 2/8 = 5/8 Therefore, 3/8 of the playground is left for the swings and play equipment

    Times 1/4 by 2 so they have the same denominator, = 2/8

    So, 2/8+3/8 = 5/8

    1 - 5/8 = 3/8

    3/8 is left for the swings and play equipment.
