The population of Africa is 6.582•10^14 people. The population of Australia is 4.32•10^14. How many times the population of Australia is Africa?

    So austraia times x=africa = (4.32*10^14) x=6.582*10^14

    to find x, we divde both sides by (4.32*10^14) so

    x = (6.582*10^14) / (4.32*10^14)

    we know that the exponents will cancel out { ([10^14]/[10^14]) = 1} so

    x=6.582/4.32

    if you do this on a calculator you get

    6.582/4.32=1.5=x

    so autralia times 1.5=africa
