    The independent quantity is the fact that they are going to charge $10 per car.

    That is something they can control, that is known and won't change therefore it is independent.

    The dependent quantity is: They don't know exactly how many cars are coming to be washed.

    That is something they can't control, it's unknown, therefore it is dependent.

    expressed by Y = 10x, 50<=x<=75

    The number of cars is your dependent variable, because you can't control how many you get. Money raised is the independent variable. because it is 10 a car
