7/8 - 1/x = 34
Rewrite 3/4 to have a common denominator as 7/8:
3/4 x 2 = 6/8
Now you have 7/8 - 1/x = 6/8
The fraction being subtracted would also have a common denominator, so x would be 8.
x = 8
