    y - 6 = 1/2x + 2 ... multiply by 2 to get rid of fractions

    2y - 12 = x + 4 ... add 12 to both sides

    2y = x + 16 ... subtract x from both sides

    -x + 2y = 16 ... multiply by - 1 to make x positive

    x - 2y = - 16 <== = standard form
