The cost for Roberta's college next year is $11,000. She has a grant for $1,500 and a scholarship of $5000. She plans to earn 40% of the remaining amount. How much will still be left to pay?

    She will have to pay $2,700.

    She is starting with a bill of $11,000. If we subtract the 1500 grant and 5000 scholarship, she has left a bill of 4500.

    She is going to earn 40% of it, so she still have to pay 60% of it.

    0.6 x 4500 = 2700
