The legs of a right triangle are 18cm and 80cm long. What is the length of the hypotenuse?

    This is where you would use the pythagorean theorem

    a² + b² = c²

    remember that a and b are the 2 legs, and c is the hypotenuse

    18² + 80² = c²

    324 + 6400 = c²

    6724 = c²

    √6724 = c

    82 = c

    the length of the hypotenuse is 82cm
