    3x^-4 + 1 - 5 - 3 (5x^-2x + 1)

    Simplify - 4 + 1 to - 3

    3x^-3 - 5 - 3 (5x^-2x + 1)

    Use the Product Rule: x^a x^b = x^a + b

    3x^-3 - 5 - 3 (5x^-2 + 1 + 1)

    Simplify - 2 + 1 to - 1
