    so using the formula we could do this

    43 = 19 + 2l subtract 19 from both sides

    -19 - 19

    24 = 2l Divide both sides by 2

    l = 12

    The length is 12.

    Check: 43 = 2 (9.5) + 2 (12)

    43 = 19 + 24

    43 = 43 correct so the length is 12.
