The Smith family has a cell phone plan that costs $75 per month. The plan lets 5 members of the Smith family share 1,000 minutes to talk per month and 400 text messages per month. Any minutes over 1,000 cost $1 per minute and any texts over 400 cost $2 per text. There was a family emergency so the smith family uses 1050 minutes and 415 texts in the month of March. T = 2 (x-400) + 1 (y-1000) + 75

    Step-by-step explanation:

    T = total cost

    x = text messages

    y = minutes

    T = 2 (x-400) + 1 (y-1000) + 75
