    3x + y = 9

    y = - 4x + 10

    First we will substitute y = - 4x+10 in the first equation in place of 'y'

    3x + (-4x+10) = 9

    ⇒3x - 4x + 10 = 9

    ⇒ - 1x + 10 = 9

    ⇒ - 1x = - 1

    ⇒ x = - 1/-1 = 1

    ⇒ x = 1

    Now, for finding the value of y, we will plug x=1 into the second equation.

    y = - 4x + 10

    y = - 4 (1) + 10

    y = - 4 + 10

    y = 6

    So, the value of y is 6.
