A circle is described by the equation (x-12) 2 + (y-32) 2=49. What are the coordinates for the center of the circle and the length of the radius?

    The format of the equation of a circle is

    (x - h) ^2 + (y - k) ^2 = r^2

    where

    (h, k) is the center

    and r is the radius

    in this case

    h = 12

    y = 32

    and

    r = sqrt (49) = 7

    therefore

    center = (12, 32)

    radius = 7
