    Solve each and find teh union or where they intersect

    3.5x-10>-3

    add 10

    3.5x>7

    divide both sides by 3.5

    x>2

    8x-9<39

    add 9 to both sides

    8x<48

    divide both sides by 8

    x<6

    we have

    x>2

    x<6

    so the zone where they are both is

    2
    S=x
