What two numbers add up to - 7 but multiply to - 18

    Since the two numbers multiply to form a negative number, we know one has to be positive and the other has to be negative. The only numbers that can add up to - 7 and also multiply to - 18 are 2 and - 9.

    -9+2=-7

    2*-9=-18
