At a tree farm, there are 9 row of 36 spruce trees. In each row, 14 of the spruce trees are blue spruce. How many spruce trees are not blue spruce?

    So there are 9 rows of 36 spruce trees ... in each row, 14 of the spruce trees are blue ... so if 14 are blue, then (36 - 14) = 22 are not blue.

    so 9 * 22 = 198 < = = there are a total of 198 spruce trees that are not blue

    and there are 126 that are blue
