    I'd figure this out by taking the total of matches that Luisa played (26) and subtracting the amount of wins (17) from that.

    l represents the number of games Luisa lost.

    26 - 17 = l

    This equation isn't in the multiple choice answers, but its reverse is.

    l + 17 = 26

    So your answer is d. l + 17 = 26
