    John read for 3 hours

    Step-by-step explanation:

    Mike read 6 hours. Sasha doubled the reading time so 3*2=12. Tom read half of that time, so it is the same as Mike which is 3. John read half of Tom's time, so 6 divided by 2 is 3.

    John read for 3 hours

    Step-by-step explanation:

    j = 0.5t; t = 0.5s; s = 2m; m = 6

    s=2 (6), s=12; t=0.5 (12), t=6; j=0.5 (6), j=3
