A landscaper builds a square garden behind a house. if the outside border of the garden consist of 36 feet of bricks then what is the area of the garden in square feet?

    81 feet.

    Since 36 is the perimeter, you divide it by 4 because it is a square, and all the sides of a square are congruent. 36 / 4 is 9. 9 is one of the sides of the square. To find the area, square the nine., and get 81 feet.
