    It has a width of 8 inches ... she wants a width of 12 inches ... so we need the scale factor ... 8 times what number = 12

    8x = 12

    x = 12/8

    x = 3/2 ... so we have a scale factor of 3/2 ... because 8 * 3/2 = 12

    so if we multiply the old width by 3/2, then we need to multiply the old height by 3/2 as well.

    10 * 3/2 = 30/2 = 15 ... so the new height will be 15 inches <==
