The leaning tower of pisa in italy has a height of 183 feet and is 4∘ off vertical. find the horizontal distance d that the top of the tower is off vertical. round your answer to the nearest tenth of a foot.

    The horizontal distance will be given by the trigonometry formula:

    tan theta=opposite / adjacent

    theta=4

    opposite=height=183 ft

    horizontal=adjacent=a

    thus

    tan 4=183/a

    hence

    a=183/tan 4
