    Translations are just adding or subtracting. Vertical movements are shown as adding or subtracting outside of the function, so something like x^2+1 would move it up 1. (x+1) ^2 would be "inside" the function. Inside also tells when you move the function left or right. It's important to remember though that up is + and down is -, which makes sense. but for left and right it's flipped, so - 1 moves it right and + 1 moves it left. or more specifically (x-1) ^2 moves x^2 to the right by 1 and (x+1) ^2 moves x^2 to the left by 1.

    With that all in mind I will just use f (x) to represent the function and write the subtractions and additions as needed.

    1) f (x-3) + 5

    2) (f (x-5) + 3

    3) f (x-5) - 3

    4 (f (x-3) - 5
