A track team will run a 4 mile relay race. The coach divided the students into groups of 4. The first runner of each group would run 1/4 of the distance, the second runner would run the next 1/3 of the distance, the third runner would run 1/2 of the remaining distance, and the fourth would run the rest of the way. Some say this is unfair because some people would run longer distances than others. Are they correct, explain.

If a track team is running a relay race, shouldnt they be running the same distance? The fourth person who runs is going to be running alot more than everyone else.
