    Make the equation into y=mx+b form

    y=-x/6 + 24

    The slope is - 1/6, so the slope for the perpendicular line is the opposite reciprocal which is positive 6.

    y=6x+b

    Solve for b using substitution with the coordinates

    5=6 (-2) + b

    b=17

    y=6x+17, or y-5=6 (x+2)
