From the basket full of eggs, 20 % of the eggs broke and 25% of the eggs

were reserved for the guests. The remaining 22 eggs were consumed by the

family members. How many eggs were there in the basket? How many broke

and how many were kept for the guests?

    so if 45% consisted of broken eggs and reserved eggs, then 55% were consumed by family members ... and there were 22 eggs consumed by family.

    0.55x = 22

    x = 22 / 0.55

    x = 40 eggs in the basket

    20% of the eggs broke ... 20% of 40 = 0.20 (40) = 8 eggs broke

    25% were reserved ... 25% of 40 = 0.25 (40) = 10 eggs reserved
