8x - 2 = - 9 + 7x
Add 2 to both sides to eliminate it: 8x = - 7 + 7x
Subtract 7x from both side to eliminate it. x = - 7
Since x = - 7, we can substitute x in 4x - 4 for - 7.
Like this: 4 (-7) - 4
Now simplify and solve:
-28 - 4
-32
The value of 4x - 4 is 32, since x = - 7
