    Average candy per house=2.4

    Step-by-step explanation:

    Total number of candy=Total number for the houses+Total number he ate

    where;

    Total number of candy=41 pieces

    Total number for the house=Number of houses*Number of candy per house, Number of houses = (9+5) = 14 houses, Number of candy per house=c

    Total number for the house=14*c=14c

    Total number he ate=8

    Replacing;

    41=14c+8

    14c=41-8

    14c=33

    c=33/14=2.4

    Average candy per house=2.4
