A retangle has a width of 6 inch3s and the perimeter is 26 inches. What is the length of the rectangle

    The formula for the perimeter is 2L+2W = p; as L = length and W=width.

    We already have 2/3 of the formula covered, we just need to figure out the length.

    2L+2 (6) = 26

    2L+12=26; Now lets subtract 12 from both sides so we can get L by itself.

    2L=14

    L=7

    The length is 7, and we can check to see if we're right.

    6+6+7+7=26

    12 + 14=26

    26=26

    The length of the rectangle is 7 inches.
