A silk worm wind ts cocoon out of one long silk fiber. to make silk thread, 3 to 10 of these silk fibers are unwound from their cocoons and combined into a single thread with a typical length of 300 yards. choose a reasonable number of silk fibers in a thread. write an equation to find the total length of the silk fibers used in 300 yards of thread.

    Answer: There would be about 6 or 7 silk fibers per 300 yard length of silk fiber.

    The problem states that each thread is made of about 3 to 10 silk fibers. The the problem as for a reasonable estimation of the number of silk fibers. It would be safe to assume that a reasonable estimation would be the average (or mean) of 3 to 10.

    (3 + 10) / 2 = 6.5

    Since 6.5 is the average, we could use 6 or 7 as a reasonable estimation.
