How do you subtract fractions

    First, change the fractions (if you have to) into common denominators. Next, subtract as usual. Finally, simplify if you have to.

    Change the denominator so that they are both the same (eg. 2/3-1/2. The common denominator is 6. So it would change to 5/6-3/6. Then you do 5-3=2 and the 6 would stay the same. Answer:2/6. (you can reduce that to 1/3. Hope this wasn't to confusing!
