You add 3 1/2 to 2 1/7 to get the tallest skeleton.

    3 1/2 = 7/2 and 2 1/7 = 15/7

First you find common denominators for both fractions. 2 and 7 go into 14.

    2 times 7 equals 14

    7/2 * 7 = 49/14

    7 times 2 equals 14

    15/7 * 2 = 30/14

    49/14 + 30/14 = 79/14

    then you simplify 79/14 ... 14*5 = 70 and 9 are left over. 5 9/14
