    If each crate has eighteen eggs and there are four crates, there are seventy-two eggs because 18*4=72. So if they had eating 28 eggs, then they have forty-four eggs left, because 72-28=44.

    There are 44 eggs left.

    Work:

    4x18=72

    72-28=44
