To find the answer to the problem " Nicole user 3/8 of her ribbon to wrap a present. If she used 6 feet of ribbon for her present how much ribbon did Nicole have first?" do you multiply the denominator by 6? If not what do you do?

    The answer is 9/4. if you multiply 3/8 by 6 you look for the number that can divide the both of them without remainder.

    So if 6 feet is 3/8 of her total ribbon, then each 1/8 should consist of 2 feet of ribbon. they wanna know what she had at 1st so 3/8+3/8 = 6/8 of ribbon also = 's 12 feet of ribbon. next we know 1/8 is 2 feet so 2/8 = 4 feet, 12+4 = 16 feet of ribbon.
