Thomas Jenkins wanted to build a deck off the back door of his new home, with a length of 21 feet and a width that is one foot less than the length. He did not have enough money for this size deck, so he was forced to cut the size of the deck (the area) in half. He did this by reducing the length and width by the same amount, represented by x. What is the length of the new deck, in feet?
