Determine whether or not each relation is a function. Explain.

6. { (4, - 3), (2, - 3), (1, 4), (5, 2) }

7. { (1, 3), (3, 1), (1, 4), (4, 1) }

    6. Yes, that relation is a function because only the y variables are the same, the x variables are completely different.

    7. No, that relation is NOT a function because there are 2 x variables that equal different y variables (i know the y variables are different, but the x variables must be different for it to be a function, just remember that and you'll do fine! : 3).
