At the produce counter, 71⁄5 pounds of seedless grapes cost $12.89. How much would 3 pounds cost?

    You'd do cost over weight to get cost per pound so divide 71 by 5 to get 14.2 pounds and divide by 12.89 and you get 1.10 dollars per pound.

    you multiply that 1.10 by 3

    to get 3.30 dollars for the three pounds
