A kitchen floor measures 9 feet by 12 feet. The owner wants to lay 18-inch by 18-inch ceramic tile to completely cover the floor. How many titles does the owner need? Use the formula A = l X w

    Area of floor = 9x12

    = 108

    Area of tile = 1.5x1.5 = 2.25 (that's in feet)

    108/2.25 = 48 tiles
