The ratio of boys to girls at the camp is 14:17. if there are 186 children at the camp altogether, how many are boys?

    B:G = 14:17

    B = 14t

    G = 17t

    186 = 14t + 17t

    186 = 31t

    t = 186 / 31

    t = 6

    B = 14 * 6 = 84

    G = 17 * 6 = 102
