This weekend Karen participated in a road race. The ratio of the number of miles she ran to the number of miles she walked is 4:5. How many miles did Karen run if she walked 10 miles?

    If she ran 4 miles and walked 5 the ratio is 4:5. To get to x:10, we multiply by 2 because 10 is double 5. That would give us 8 miles that she ran.
