2/4 of a pan of brownies was sitting on the counter you've decided to eat one half of the brownies in the bed how much of the whole pan of brownies did you eat

    2/4 can be simplified to 1/2.

    So we do 1/2 x 1/2 which equals 1/4. That is how much is left. So 1 - 1/4 is 3/4 and so you have eaten 3/4 of the pan.
