X to the one-third divided by x to the one-twelfth is equal to x to the power of:

    1/3-1/12

    1/3-1/12

    3/12

    1/4

Therefore, this is the fourth root of x.

Julie is finding x to the (1+2+5) / 32, or x to the 8/32 power. This simplifies to x^ (1/4), which is also the fourth root of x. Megan and Julie have started with equal expressions.
