Hector needs 84 feet of fencing to enclose his rectangular garden. The length of his garden is 12 feet less than twice its width. What is the width of his garden?

    2 (x-12) + 2x=84

    2x-24+2x=84

    4x-24=84 (add 24 to both sides)

    4x=108 (divide by 4)

    x = 27

    The width is 27ft
