    First we define the variables:

    x = football boots

    y = rugby boots

    z = hiking boots

    Now we write the equations:

    (x / y) = 6/2

    (y / z) = 2/3

    For x = 24 we have:

    (24 / y) = 6/2

    (24 / y) = 3

    y = 24/3

    y = 8

    On the other hand:

    (y / z) = 2/3

    (8 / z) = 2/3

    (8) * (3/2) = z

    z = 12

    Then, the sum is:

    x + y + z = 24 + 8 + 12 = 44

    Answer:

    44 boots were sold last month
